Thread: Ultra 210 (Black). 

Tube: Scandi Style Plastic Tube  

Rear Shoulder: 

  1. Crystal Chenille or Thread (Silver)
  2. Mallard Barred Flank (Blue) 
  3. Five strips of Krinkle Mirror Flash on each side. (Purple / Blue / Silver) 
  4. Marabou (Light Blue) 
  5. Marabou (Peacock Blue) 
  6. Schlappen (Dark Blue)

Body:

  1. Flashabou (Dark Blue)

Front Shoulder:

  1. Marabou (Peacock Blue) 
  2. Schlappen (Dark Blue)
  3. Marabou (Black
September Fly - Cotton Candy

Cotton Candy (For Chinook) 

Thread: Ultra 210 (White Or Blue). 

Hook:   Mustad 34077-SS O’Shaughnessy Stainless Steel. You can truly choose your size based on how big or small you want this fly. 

Body:

  1. 2-3 strips of Krinkle Mirror Flash on each side. (Purple) 
  2. Tie in 1 very small pinch of blue fox tail on top of the hook, and 1 very small pinch of pink fox tail on the bottom of the hook, so that the tips of the fur are pointing towards the eye of the hook. 
  3. Pull the fur back on itself on the hook, and tie a few wraps in front to help keep the fur pushed back. 
  4. Repeat steps 2 & 3 until you reach the eye of the hook, keeping your pinches of fur quite small. Less is more.
  5. Carefully trim and shape the fox tail fur to resemble the body of a small baitfish. The hair is typically trimmed shorter near the eyes of the fly, and gradually longer to the rear. 

Head: 

  1. 2 pieces of Schlappen (Hot Pink), 1 on each side of the fly.
  2. Fish Skull Living Eyes. 
  3. If the fur near the eyes is not staying pushed back (AKA Your fly is having a bad hair day....), feel free to use a small amount of Solarez to shape it!

Thread: Ultra 210 (Black)

Tube: : Scandi Style Plastic Tube  

Three Shoulders in Orange, to Pink, to Purple —With 3-4 wraps of Silver Chenille separating each shoulder:

  1. 2-3 Strands of Glow In The Dark Flashabou
  2. Foxtail (Less is more!) 
  3. Silly Legs

Head: 

  1. One small pinch of foxtail, tied in on top. (Black) 
  2. 1 wrap of marabou around. (Black) 
  3. 2-3 Strands of Krinkle Mirror Flash (Purple)
  4. 2 strips of saddle hackle for wings, tied in on top. (Natural) 
  5. Cone head. (Hot pink)
February Fly Of The Month - Morning Caviar (Tube Fly For Steelhead or Salmon)
 

Thread: I use ultra 210 (White). 

Tube: Scandi Style Plastic Tube 

Rear Shoulder: 

  1. Glow In The Dark Flashabou (Peach/Pink)
  2. Crosscut Rabbit Strips (Two Tone Peachy Pink) 
  3. Marabou (White) Note: Strip one side of feather before wrapping.

Body:

  1. Pearl Uni-Mylar 

Front Shoulder:

  1. Schlappen (Peach) 
  2. Marabou (White) Note: Strip one side of feather before wrapping.
  3. Two strips of Krinkle Mirror Flash on each side. (Purple) 
Optional: You can add a cone head for added weight. I make them with & without for different water conditions. 

Tube: Scandi Style Plastic Tube 

 

Note Before Tying: Less is more on this one. You only need 2-3 wraps of each material.

 

March Fly Of The Month: Sugar Plums (Steelhead Intruder)

Rear Shoulder: 

  1. lce Dub UV (Light Grey)
  2. Schlappen (Light Pink or Peach) 
  3. 2 strips of Natural White & Black Hackle, one on each side. 
  4. Marabou (Light Pink) Note: Strip one side of feather before wrapping.
  5. Marabou (Bubble Gum or Hot Pink) Note: Strip one side of feather before wrapping.
  6. 3-4 Strands of Flashabou on each side. (Purple)

Body:

  1. Pearl or Pink Uni-Mylar  

Front Shoulder:

  1. lce Dub UV (Light Grey) 
  2. Schlappen (Hot Pink) 
  3. Marabou (Shrimp Pink or Coral Pink) Note: Strip one side of feather before wrapping.
  4. 4 Crazy Legs (Hot Pink/Florescent Orange) Spaced Evenly Around The Fly. I tie mine in backwards first, and then flip them back on themselves. It helps push them out & away from the tube. 
  5. 3-4 Strands of Flashabou on each side. (Purple)
  6. Guinea Fowl (Natural)
  7. Pink cone head. 
    April Fly Of The Month - An Avocado This World
    Thread: Ultra 210 (White)
    Hooks: 2 Mustad 34077-SS O’Shaughnessy Stainless Steel, Size 2
    Rear Hook Tail:
    1. Marabou (Olive Green) 
    2. 2 Strands of Flashabou on each side. (Purple)
    Rear Hook Body:
    1. Crystal Chenille (Tan)
    2. Ringneck Pheasant Spey Feather (Natural) 
    3. Marabou (Yellow Olive) 
    4. 2-3 Strands of UV Crystal Flash on each side. (Gray) 
    Link the rear hook to the front hook using wire, and 2 small copper or green beads. 
    Front Hook Tail (To cover beads): 
    1. Marabou (Olive Green) 
    Front Hook Body - Use less material than rear hook so that there is room for the head: 
    1. Crystal Chenille (Tan)
    2. Ringneck Pheasant Spey Feather (Natural) 
    3. Marabou (Yellow Olive)
    4. Marabou (Olive Green)
    5. 2 pieces of Saddle Hackle on each side. (Olive)

    2. Wrap Crystal Chenille (Tan), and then Saddle Hackle (White) on top.

    June Fly Of The Month: Basic Baitfish

    Thread: Ultra 210 (White)

    Hooks: 2 Mustad 34077-SS O’Shaughnessy Stainless Steel, Size 2

    Rear Hook Tail:

    1. 1 Tip of Marabou Feather On Top & 1 On Bottom (Green On Top, White On Bottom)
    2. Wrap Crystal Chenille (Crystal Pink)
    3.  1 Tip of Marabou Feather On Top & 1 On Bottom (Green On Top, White On Bottom)

    Repeat until you get close to the end of the hook, and at the very end: 

    1. 1 Tip of Marabou Feather On Top & 1 On Bottom (Green On Top, Pink On Bottom)
    2. 7. 2-3 Strands of Flashabou on each side. (Purple)

     

    Link the rear hook to the front hook using wire, and 2 small white beads. 

     

    Front Hook Body - Use less material than rear hook so that there is room for the head: 

    1. Tip of Marabou Feather On Top & 1 On Bottom (Green On Top, White On Bottom). 
    2. Wrap Crystal Chenille (Crystal Pink)
    3.  1 Tip of Marabou Feather On Top & 1 On Bottom (Green On Top, White On Bottom)

    Repeat until you get 2/3 of the way down the hook, and then: 

    1. 1 Tip of Marabou Feather On Top & 1 On Bottom (Green On Top, Pink On Bottom)
    2. 7. 2-3 Strands of Flashabou on each side. (Purple)
    3. 1 Pinch of Fox Tail On Top, and 1 Pinch of Fox Tail On Bottom (Green On Top, White On Bottom)

    Head: Large Fish Skull Baitfish Heads (Glue on with Zap-A-Gap)

    Name: Fuzzy Peach (For Pink Salmon) 

    Thread: Ultra 210 (White).

    1. Glow In The Dark Flashabou (Peach/Pink)
    2. UV Crystal Flash (Pink or Purple) 
    3. Schlappen (Hot Peach) 
    4. Marabou (Hot Peach) Note: Strip one side of feather before wrapping.

    1. Crystal Chenille (Peace or Light Pink)

    1. Schlappen (Hot Peach)
